Marketing – what will you do differently in 2019?

As 2018 draws to a close, it’s a time to reflect on what we’ve done this year to communicate with existing clients and what marketing steps have been taken to attract new clients.

In short, what worked and what didn’t work.

With so many changes affecting the accountancy profession and your clients (MTD, Brexit, GDPR and the forthcoming changes from the new E-Privacy Regulations to name but a few), regular communication is more important than ever. All these changes are happening on top of your plans to promote different services and grow the practice.

So, looking back on 2018, how did your communications stack up?

  • Were you as proactive as you wanted to be?
  • Did your marketing messages hit the spot and deliver the results you were hoping for?
  • Was a lack of time an issue in doing the marketing you wanted to?
  • Did you have the resources in place to make sure your marketing was a success?

If your client communications and marketing activities were wide of the mark, what will you do to rectify this in 2018? Here are some suggestions:

  • Create a marketing plan to keep you on track throughout the year.
  • Delegate to someone else in the practice, perhaps an admin person, who could do a lot of the spade work for you.
  • Engage a marketing mentor to keep you focused and to give you ideas on how to achieve your objectives.
  • Outsource some or all of your marketing activities to an accountancy marketing specialist.
  • Recruit a part-time or full-time experienced marketing person.

If you would like to discuss the pros and cons of these suggestions and to consider what approach would work best for your practice in 2019 (and beyond), do drop me a line. I’d be happy to offer some free advice. My contact details are vicki@momentumforprofessionals.co.uk or call 01822 833300.
