HMRC will soon start sending letters to your clients announcing the introduction of Making Tax Digital (MTD) for Income Tax.
To help you communicate these changes to your clients and save time, I have written a client email and a separate generic Guide to MTD for Income Tax.

This Word document provides your clients with a brief overview of the new tax system. It explains that MTD for Income Tax will be the new Self Assessment process for self-employed people and property landlords. The email highlights:
- the income thresholds and key dates when the new system becomes mandatory;
- the new process for reporting income;
- who can expect to receive correspondence from HMRC; and
- where clients can access more information.
There is also a section that highlights the support available from your accountancy practice. This is written in a generic format, but you can easily update it with the specific support your practice will provide.
The Guide to MTD for
Income Tax

This is also a Word document, extending to two sides of A4. The wording in the guide can be copied and pasted onto your website, used in a leaflet, newsletter, or as an attachment to the email above.
The guide covers the following points:

- Who is affected, and when will it become mandatory?
- Who is not affected?
- Are there Exemptions to MTD?
- What is the new process for MTD for Income Tax?

The client email and the Guide to MTD for Income Tax are sold as one-off purchases. Any changes you require me to make to the documents, including updates from HMRC, will be charged at the rate of £90 + VAT per hour or part thereof.
